What Are RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+)?
RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+) are dermal fillers used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth). RADIESSE® is also used to restore volume in the back of the hands.
What Is The Most Important Information I Should Know About RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+)?
One of the risks is unintentional injection into a blood vessel. While rare, this can lead to serious or permanent complications, including vision changes, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent skin scarring. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you experience vision changes, stroke symptoms, unusual pain, or white skin at the injection site. As with all injections, there is a risk of infection.
Do not use RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+) on areas with skin infections until healed. Safety and effectiveness in the lips or around the eyes have not been established.
The microspheres in RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+) may appear on X-rays or CT scans, so inform your healthcare provider if you have had these fillers. If you have a history of herpes, a breakout may occur after treatment.
Injection in the hands may cause temporary difficulty with activities and may result in nodules, bumps, or lumps that can last up to a year. Avoid strenuous activity, extensive sun, or heat exposure for about 24 hours or until any swelling or redness resolves.
What Should I Tell My Doctor Before Using RADIESSE® or RADIESSE® (+)?
Inform your healthcare provider if you take blood thinners or medications that affect blood clotting, such as aspirin or warfarin, as these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also disclose any hand injuries, diseases, disabilities, history of raised scars, or previous skin treatments such as chemical peels.
